Visit to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science
It was a Friday and a day off from school. It also happens to be a very sunny and warm day in the middle of winter. My father planned for all of us to visit the Denver museum of nature and science. It turned out to be such an amazing and memorable experience. There were times I felt I was right there in the past, part of the history.
Early that day I was practicing on my snowboard and did I mention that I got a new snowboard. It was really fun practicing in the backyard. I almost forgot to go to the museum. My father came to the backyard and said ’We are getting late’. We are going to the museum of nature and science. I knew we were going to take a lot of pictures so I dressed casually and something that looked cool.
Soon we were in the car heading towards downtown Denver to the museum. We live in south denver and the museum was over 20 miles from our home. However, it felt like a short drive. Maybe it happens when you are excited about where you are going.
When we reached the museum, I still remember stepping inside the front entrance and realizing that it is so big and amazing. My eyes went to the museum shop and the big dinosaur hanging from the ceiling.
Did I tell you that the museum has an IMAX theater and we were going to a 3-D movie? I have gone to a 4-D movie at Disneyland before. But the show was still in a few hours so we were excited to explore the museum first.
So we headed to the Space odyssey section on Level 1. The most memorable was experiencing the simulation of rocket launching, the sound, and the vibrations. It feels like what it’s like for you to be on a spaceship when It blasts off!🚀. I recommend all kids visiting the museum to try it out. I took some pictures in front of the MARS rover and Astronauts in their spacesuits. After that, we went to the gems and minerals exhibit and I learned so many names of crystals - quartz, amethyst, topaz. Interestingly I make crystals at home. One of my friend gave me a National geography Crystal growing kit on my 8th birthday.
After completing Level 1 we headed to the second level and went first to the Guitar exhibit. It was called “GUITAR: The Instrument That Rocked The World”, which takes you on a fascinating exploration of the science, sound, history, and pop culture behind the world’s most popular instrument. There was a giant giant giant giant giant giant giant guitar in there!!!!🎸🎸🎸🎸. I never knew Guitar has such a great history. I got to try playing one on a stage , it was fun.
Then we went to get our 3-D movie tickets and found out that we were seeing a movie called ‘Wings over water’. I was wondering what kind of movie it was my first guess was it was about water because it literally said at the end 💧? ! We got two boxes of popcorn and headed inside to watch the movie. We got some cool 3D glasses . We were able to find a nice spot right in the middle of the theatre. Soon we were watching the movie and i came to realize that it was about birds and how we’re draining wetlands because birds always migrate to wetlands and how are draining it to build more buildings and houses. Did you know that California used to be the biggest wetland place in northern America and now it’s just full of buildings and houses and maybe like 91% of it has been drained birds have been dying it’s very sad.
After the movie, I asked my dad if it was inspiring, sad, or fun. He said it was inspiring and sad. I agreed and I said to him whenever you see something or whenever you listen to something it sometimes gets you thinking and inspired. After the 3-D movie we kept on exploring the rest of the museum and got tired. Then I lost my headband and lucky we found it because of my memory.
OK now, this is the important part of my journey to the museum of nature and science when I was walking out of the building I thought this was a whole new experience for me let it be a whole new experience for you, and I bet it will be a whole new experience for everyone.
